If you find yourself in Manchester in need of a restful pause from your daily hustle, take a short walk just 200m from Oxford Road Station, 800m from Piccadilly Station and across the road from Manchester Central; to access the beautiful Midland Manchester Hotel. A part of the Q hotels group, the Midland Manchester has played host to Royalty, Prime Ministers and Presidents over its 100 year history.
The Spa at the Midland oozes charm and grandeur boasting a variety of thermal areas to help you disconnect from your hectic life. Side by side are the Alder wood sauna and salt-infused aromatherapy steam room, and just opposite these are the Jacuzzi and heated relaxation pool featuring an elegant swan neck fountain to apply pressure to any areas of aches and pains. During my day at the Midland I spent two hours in the thermal areas before experiencing the ESPA skin radiance facial. A detailed consultation was carried out and an in-depth skin analysis was given using SkinVision technology to identify any skin conditions that were invisible to the naked eye. The ESPA skin radiance facial lasted 55 minutes and included a decadent scalp, shoulder and neck massage.
After the facial I was led by the therapist to the relaxation room which consists of four themed areas; the ‘big sleep’ made up of three sleep chambers, ‘relaxation pods’- four cocoon style pods hanging from the ceiling, ‘Airtime’ which is modelled on a business class flight and ‘Time out’, a grand room with deep -benched seats that can be booked on a private basis and closed off for groups. No more than 800m from the crowds, queues, hustle and bustle of Manchester Piccadilly, the Midlands Manchester Spa is an oasis of calm. Not surprisingly it has been short listed for the ‘Best Spa in the North’ at the Good Spa Guide Regional Awards 2015. Take the day off and treat yourself like royalty at the Midland Manchester.
